<p><span style="font-size: 18px;">Objectives:<br />
1. Explore common eating behaviors and the feeding relation</span><span style="font-size: 18px;">ship between parent and child.<br />
2. Understand and arrange the environment for good feeding behavior.<br />
3. Identify and apply strategies that support rewarding family meals.</span></p>

<h3>Blue Valley KPATA Nutrition and Fitness Mini Grant</h3>
<p><span style="font-size: 18px;">The purpose of the mini grant was to:</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 18px;">• To link parents to ideas and information about ways to promote their child's natural development and develop a positive feeding relationship and healthy, appropriate fitness goals.<br />
• To support positive interaction between parent and child through engaging activities that are easy to enjoy at home that focus on the feeding relationship and appropriate fitness activities<br />
• To support school readiness and success from the start through rich early learning opportunities<br />
• To offer activities and information that provide unique benefits to children with developmental delays in a manner that is non-stigmatizing and easily accessible to all families</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 18px;">Purpose: Introduce and encourage parents and childcare providers to make fresh, natural baby food.<br />
Project Description: Information was presented to parents as a group connection. These sessions were scheduled in collaboration with the Healthy Start home visitor. The Early childhood Connections staff also received training on how to utilize the DVD and present information to families. There are 2 more sessions planned for the group connections at the Hays Recreation Center (HRC) . The Baby Fair, sponsored by Hays Medical Center in conjunction with our Interagency Coordinating Council, will be held on Oct. 23rd from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Another class at the recreation center is scheduled for 11/15/2011. Individual staff members will present the information to parents based on their individual needs during a home visit.
