WELCOME TO KPATA

Kansas Parents as Teachers Association (KPATA) welcomes you to our website.  This website provides more information about KPATA members and KPATA supporters.  We currently have over 100 members and encourage you to fill out a brochure and send your dues to Sandy Elsworth, treasurer, today!  One major membership benefit is belonging to the KPATA e-group.  After your membership is received you are invited to join the e-group.  Please accept and you are on your way to belonging to one of the largest home visiting/early childhood networks in the state of Kansas.

UPDATE 

What is new at KPATA?
KPATA Hires New Executive Director.

Nancy Keel has been hired to work for the Board of Directors and membership of KPATA for about 720 hours this year.  Her job will be to collaborate with early childhood organizations and promote the vision and mission of KPATA throughout Kansas.  During the Legislative session much of this time will be spent in Topeka attending legislative activities and meetings of other early childhood agencies and organizations such as:

Kansas Parent Information Center (KPIRC)
Kansas Action for Children (KAC)
Education Begins at Home (EBAH) with Kansas Children’s Service League (KCSL)
Kansas Early Learning Coordinating Council (KELCC)
Kansas Early Learning Advisory Council (KELAC)
Kansas Head Start Association  

Nancy Keel has been working with the Parents as Teachers program for the past 23 years beginning in Kansas City, Missouri, as a parent educator and center manager.  In 1989 the Kansas City Area Parents as Teachers Consortium was formed by the Superintendents of 7 school districts on the east side of the state, and Nancy was hired as the Program Director.  Nancy continues working as the KC Area PAT Consortium Program Director, Olathe PAT Coordinator, and parent educator.   Nancy is also a state and national PAT trainer and a state and national Quality Consultant for the Parents as Teachers Standards and Self-Assessment process.

Nancy will be providing monthly reports to the Board and meeting with the Board President, Nancy Rasmussen, on a regular basis.  If you have questions or ideas please contact Nancy at 913-780-7002 or keeln@olatheschools.com.
